WHY GROOMER SCOUT

Trust first.
Then book the groom.

Handing your dog or cat to a groomer means trusting a stranger with a pet who can’t tell you how it went, and most people ask a neighbor. Groomer Scout is for when you don’t have one to ask — or want to double-check the one you got. We show what you can verify for yourself: that the business is real, the certification, cage-free, sedation and vaccination policies it states, its insurance, whether it books online and its published prices. No invented ratings, and anything featured is clearly labeled.

Groomer Scout helps pet owners find dog and cat groomers (salons, mobile groomers and self-serve washes), compare what they publish, and contact them directly. We’re starting with Tampa Bay, Florida.

A first collection, with room to grow.

Our collection includes 320 groomers across 26 areas. It is a researched starting point, not a complete inventory of Tampa Bay grooming businesses. Mobile groomers come to your door and often publish no street address; we say so on the profile rather than guess one. Owner-verified profiles are marked individually after review.

Sourced facts only.

We use each business’s own website and location pages, and official business listings. Where direct retrieval was unavailable, we reviewed search-indexed pages from the official website. Every profile links to its sources and shows when we checked them. A source-check date does not mean the business updated the page that day.

Published opening hours use Tampa Bay local time (Eastern). Unknown hours stay unknown. Map pins are approximate, and for service-area businesses they show the area served rather than an address. Your location is only used in your browser to sort by distance — it is never sent to us. Initials appear when we have not sourced a usable business logo.

The trust check.

Every profile shows the same nine items, each as plain yes or not-yet-confirmed. It is a checklist, not a rating.

  1. Real, sourced business. Contact details from official sources.
  2. Certified groomer, as stated. A grooming certification the business names (for example from a groomers’ association). Many good groomers have none: ask about their training.
  3. Cage-free, as stated. Whether the business says your pet does not wait in a kennel or cage before or after the groom. Ask where your pet waits.
  4. No sedation, as stated. Whether the business says it never sedates pets for grooming. If it is not stated, ask.
  5. Prices published. A price the business states on its own site, quoted as written.
  6. Vaccinations required. Whether the business says it asks for proof of current vaccinations, such as rabies, from every pet. See questions to ask a new groomer.
  7. Insured, as stated. The insurance statement the business publishes. We don’t see the policy: ask for a certificate of insurance.
  8. Online booking. Whether the business takes bookings online on its own site.
  9. Published prices. Recorded only when the business publishes them. We don’t estimate prices; ask for a quote for your pet’s breed and size.

Statements appear as the business makes them, linked to the page where it says so. We don’t verify them independently, and they can change, so confirm before you rely on one.

A closer look at each groomer.

Photos come from official business websites and linked business profiles. We label them, and link every image to its source. We don’t use stock images or map imagery. Images may show an earlier appearance of the work. Owners can request a replacement or removal through the correction form.

Reviews, with their sources.

Profiles link to matching review pages where we can identify them. We don’t copy star ratings or review counts from other platforms — we link to them, so you always read the current reviews in their own context. Testimonials the business selected are kept separate from independent reviews.

What a listing means.

Inclusion is not an endorsement, partnership, or quality rating. We have no ratings of our own. We don’t invent reviews, star ratings, prices or credentials. Nothing on Groomer Scout is legal or insurance advice. Business names and logos identify the businesses and belong to their respective owners.

Some owner-verified groomers are Featured. Featured groomers have taken a free strategy call with Winback Engine, the company behind Groomer Scout, about its customer-reactivation service, and may be Winback Engine customers. Featured groomers carry a “Featured” label and can appear first in the default sort. Featuring never changes a business’s trust check, credentials, photos or review sources, and every other sort and filter works exactly the same for every groomer.

For business owners.

Claim requests and suggested corrections are free. Requests are held for review; submitting a form does not change a public profile or prove ownership. Ownership should be established through a business contact that was independently published before the request.

Why Winback Engine?

This directory is a Winback Engine project. Alongside helping pet owners find local groomers, we want to meet business owners who need help reconnecting with past customers. Owners can choose to ask about that service. It is separate from a free directory listing.
