Missing a groomer? Add your business

A growing first collection, not a complete list. Hours, services, prices and policy wording are published by each business and may change. How we source our listings ↗

The trust check

What’s worth knowing before you book a groom.

Handing your dog to a groomer means trusting them with your pet. So every groomer gets the same plain check of what you can verify for yourself — not a rating, not an ad. Unknowns stay unknown.

  1. 01

    It’s a real business

Sourced from official websites and listings, with contact details. Lead-generation pages and call centers don’t count.

  2. 02

    Certified groomer, as stated

A grooming certification the groomer names on its own site. Many good groomers have none, so ask about training.

  3. 03

    Cage-free, as stated

Whether the groomer says it is cage-free, with no kennel time before or after the groom, with a link to where it says so.

  4. 04

    No sedation, as stated

Whether the groomer says it never sedates pets for grooming, as published.

  5. 05

    Vaccinations required

Whether the groomer says it requires proof of current vaccinations, such as rabies. Ask what they need.

  6. 06

    Insured, as stated

The insurance statement the groomer publishes. Ask for the certificate of insurance; we don’t see the policy.

  7. 07

    Online booking

Whether the groomer takes bookings online on its own site.

  8. 08

    Published prices

Prices, only when the groomer publishes them. Otherwise, ask for a quote for your dog’s breed and size.

FIRST TIME BOOKING A GROOMER?

Ask before you book,
not after the groom.

Ask where your dog will wait, whether the groomer ever sedates, and which vaccinations they need. Get the price in writing. How to choose a groomer ↗

  1. Where will my dog wait? Some groomers use crates or cages before and after the groom and some are cage-free. Ask how long a dog is crated and who checks on it.
  2. Do you ever sedate dogs?Ask whether the groomer ever sedates a dog, and what they do with a scared one. Talk to your vet if your dog is anxious.
  3. Which vaccinations do you need? Many groomers ask for proof of rabies vaccination, and some for others. Ask what they need and how to send it.
  4. What does the price cover?Size, coat and condition change the price. Get the base price, the add-ons and what happens if your dog needs extra work, in writing.
ASK AROUND

Good groomers get found through other dog owners. Share a groomer to the group chat with one tap — the link opens with stated services, sources and contact details. Saved a shortlist? Share that too and let a neighbor weigh in.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Finding a groomer
you can trust.

Straight answers about cages, sedation, vaccinations, prices and how Groomer Scout works. How we source our listings ↗

How do I find a trustworthy dog groomer in Tampa Bay?
Look for things you can check yourself: a real business with a website and contact details, a stated policy on cages and sedation, vaccination requirements, any certification or insurance it states, published prices and a clear way to book. Groomer Scout lists 318 dog and pet groomers across 26 Tampa Bay areas and shows which of these details we could confirm for each one, with links to the sources and the date we checked them (latest check 2026-11-06).
How often should I groom my dog?
It depends mostly on coat type. Curly and long coats mat easily and are usually groomed every few weeks, while short smooth coats need far less. Brushing at home between visits helps every coat. Ask your groomer to set a schedule for your dog. 258 groomers in the directory list full grooms.
What does cage-free mean, and does the groomer sedate dogs?
Cage-free usually means a groomer does not keep dogs in crates or kennels before or after the groom, but wording varies, so ask where your dog will wait and for how long. Groomers are not vets: ask whether any dog is ever sedated and what they do with a scared one. 41 groomers say they are cage-free and 5 groomers say they never sedate.
Which vaccinations does my dog need for grooming?
Many groomers ask for proof of rabies vaccination, and some ask for others. Requirements differ, so ask what they need and how to send it. Your vet can give you the records. 87 groomers in the directory say they require proof of current vaccinations.
How much does dog grooming cost?
We do not quote prices. Prices depend on your dog’s size, coat, condition and the service, so a doodle with matting costs differently from a short-coated small dog. Where a groomer publishes prices, you will see them on the listing. 0 groomers publish at least one price. Otherwise ask for a quote for your dog’s breed and size, in writing.
Mobile grooming or a salon?
A mobile groomer comes to you, often works on one dog at a time and spares your dog a car ride. A salon may have more space, equipment and appointment choices. Ask either about drying, keeping dogs cool, insurance and where your dog waits. 81 groomers in the directory list mobile grooming.
What is the Groomer Scout trust check?
It is a checklist of the details on every groomer profile: a real, sourced business; a grooming certification, as stated; cage-free, as stated; no sedation, as stated; vaccinations required; insurance, as stated; online booking; and published prices. It is not a rating. A missing item means we could not confirm it from a public source, not that the groomer is bad.
Does Groomer Scout rate or rank groomers?
No. We never give groomers star ratings and we don’t copy ratings from other sites. By default, groomers are sorted by how many trust-check details we could confirm. Some owner-verified groomers are Featured through a free strategy call with Winback Engine, the company behind Groomer Scout; Featured groomers are always labeled and can appear first, but Featured never changes a groomer’s trust check or sources.
What should I ask a groomer before I book?
Where will my dog wait? Some groomers use crates or cages before and after the groom and some are cage-free. Ask how long a dog is crated and who checks on it. Do you ever sedate dogs? Ask whether the groomer ever sedates a dog, and what they do with a scared one. Talk to your vet if your dog is anxious. Which vaccinations do you need? Many groomers ask for proof of rabies vaccination, and some for others. Ask what they need and how to send it. What does the price cover? Size, coat and condition change the price. Get the base price, the add-ons and what happens if your dog needs extra work, in writing.
Do I book or pay through this site?
No. Every profile links to the groomer’s own website or phone number, so you deal directly with the groomer. Groomer Scout does not take bookings, payments or referral fees from dog owners.
A groomer is missing or out of date. How do I fix it?
Owners can claim a free profile, and anyone can suggest a missing groomer or a correction from the “For businesses” page. Requests are reviewed against the groomer’s official sources before anything changes on a public profile.
